First topic... hope I didn't miss anything! ;D

I've been searching through the older forums to find a link to Mac Manga, but anything that seemed leading ended up not working anymore, any tips to find it? :'(

Weirdly I remember hearing it talked about way back, but I never actually read it at the time. Took me a bit of digging around through the forum / wiki to even pick up the context clues for where to look to find it...

I found it in the old gallery, under the adult 18+ section as it's ecchi. Viewer discretion advised, proceed at your own risk etc.

Thanks! Been making a documentary about the Apple-Tans, this seemed like the last piece I needed to dissect before I do anything else

Now... That's a lot of translating and sorting to do... :o

Oops! Never seen this one!

But, as many as possible, Sonata, OSX, OSX variants, and hopefully anyone else that has enough information

May be worth mentioning the artist Esu. They are a prominent artist responsible for many of the most popular representations of OS X versions. https://www.pixiv.net/en/users/276388

While on the topic of getting old sources, Mac Party.

Same deal as Mac Manga, I see the thread, but I don't see any type of source...

I assume you mean Mac Party Redux. That was a comic by one of our old members, Aurora Borealis. I'm not sure it exists in full anywhere on the site anymore, image host link rot has not been kind to the things posted here (nearly 20 years ago now). Some of it still exists on the old image gallery archive.

IIRC, Mac Party Redux was inspired by Mac Manga, but dropped the NSFW elements for more straightforward comedic scenarios. Given the name, I assume she made an original "Mac Party" but I'm not familiar with it - probably before my time here on OSC.

Aurora was a prominent Mac artist responsible for OSC's homegrown Mac-tans. Primarily, personifications for Mac System 1 through 7. (7.5-tan, 8-tan, 9-tan, 9.1 & 9.2-tan all originated on Futaba or Nijura, AFAIK.) You can see art of them at the archive link I posted, as well as chibi form here.

So it's partly lost media... Nice..

Well, that seems like everything needed to get stuff going, thanks, Bella!

I think I'll still stay roaming around on these forums, you all seem like a nice bunch of folks! ;)

One of the tragedies of so much OS-tan stuff happening on relatively small forums is that a lot of it has been lost to time. Plenty of media that originated on Futaba Channel & +Nijiura+ blew up to the point that it's still being circulated to this day, but I couldn't hazard a guess how much stuff from Pixiv, dA, various fan sites, etc. is gone now because of age and folks moving onto new interests and online personae. OSC is old and comprehensive (I don't know of a larger archive) but has always served a niche userbase, even at its height, so most of the art that originated here ended up siloed here. Which is just as well for many of us who do this as a passion project, but makes preservation efforts fairly challenging.

Welcome, and please do! OSC is a great little piece of old internet and I'm glad new people are still finding & making use of it.
