What even is the original source for that design? The OS-tan gallery has Bella/C-Chan material and one picture from an unknown artist.

Somehow I cant remember what I was basing it on almost 20 years ago.
The OS-tan gallery does have some conceptual sketch for jotting down details I made back then.


Also looking through the archives. Found a couple more sketches of her. Unfortunately I just seemed to scan everything quite low res back then, I guess a 600px picture just seemed big on a 1024x768 monitor.

VonDaab, I'm living for the NetBSD-tan pics I've never seen before. Especially CowBSD & swimsuit NetBSD-tan. >:3

I reiterate that I looooooooveeee what you did for BSD-sama, thank you for working your magic on her!!!!! I love the more futuristic and substantial take on her visual design, you truly transformed my old concept into something befitting her might and significance in the world of computers! I LOVE the shadow-form with the VAX coat, it's so damn cool and makes her look suitably imposing - perhaps enough to even strike a bit of fear into the heart of Unix-sama or VMS-tan. ^_^

I like the bodysuit for FreeBSD-tan! The sneaks are a fun touch too, as is the chibi. The pose is a lot of fun and FreeBSD-tan's expression is both charming and appropriately a little unhinged. ^____^

(Though the color scheme makes me think of Italy, haha!)

NETBSD-TAN MY LOVE. The cloth rendering on this one is so freaking good, I can't stop staring! I love her horn and tail ribbons too!!! ADORABLE, 10/10 NO NOTES.

I love the magic you worked on DragonflyBSD-tan's outfit, and the little details like the wings on her loafers and the stitching on her skirt. Pose is adorable too, as are the chibis.

WHOA MAMA OPENBSD-TAN. Thank you for making her look built as fuck, I am looking respectfully at her legs and arms.... again the cloth rendering on her shirt is so good and really emphasizes her musculature IMO. I love what you did with her hair too, and expression... gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous.

Thank you! Admittedly, I was a bit worried you wouldn't like it since I didn't know if it would fit your vision of her. So, I'm relieved to know that you loved it

I can now picture her enjoying some Italian cuisine hehe. Gave her those sneaks so she looks a bit more like the mascot Beastie.

I take a "show me what you've got" stance on tweaks/updates/redesigns of characters I created (or adopted or co-created)! When I first joined the forum there was a pretty strong sense of communal ... ownership isn't quite the right word ... stewardship, maybe, over the characters we created, and I've carried that attitude ever since. I respect that not everyone feels that way about their characters, but I definitely think my personifications should follow the ethos of the original Futaba OS-tans as a group project.
