They're pretty classic 1960s style comedy.  They blends a lot of types together but it really works a lot better then when they try the same thing more recently; lot's of doors opening and shutting, sexual tension, physical comedy, intrigue, plots, ridiculous costumes, flagrantly unsafe firearms use.  Maybe it was just the era in film making that really makes it all work more then attempts to revive that sort of movie today.
