was wondering if you guys could suggest some. i'm attending my high school's anime club again, and diversity is nice here.

parameters for "school appropriate":
-no sex or innuendos
-MINIMAL swearing (no f-bombs, other swears very sparingly)
-not too much blood
-please no religious references (just in case someone's parents are hyper-sensitive weirdos)

ik this kinda kills it. but any suggestions?

What's the age limit we're looking at? Is it just going to be high schoolers, or will there be younger kids present?

Anyway... upon searching my memory for "Non-offensive animu that still manage to be enjoyable and clever", these two showed up at the top of my list:

Pani Poni Dash: it's silly, lighthearted, fast-paced, very cute, has a lot of pop culture references, some comic violence, minimal swearing and innuendo (IIRC), and doesn't touch on any "offensive" themes. One site I found suggests the age range as 13+

Azumanga Daioh: like PPD, it's a very lighthearted and fun show. Nonviolent, no sexual situations,  controversial topics or rough language. The same site says it's okay for viewers 7+.

Be warned that these shows more than make up for their non-offensiveness with tons and tons of weirdness.

oh oh Kodomo no Jikan and Kite XD

ok srsly, just like what bella said, we need some age limit..
school rumble?

uh wait, don't jump to conclusions yet..
define "school appropriate", is it school themed or anything that is appropriate to show in school?

Azumanga Daioh gets my vote, too.  Also K-On!, Lucky Star, Ore no Imouto if they can handle the implied incestuous feelings Kirino has for her brother (they both play eroge regularly, but you only ever see the safe scenes), Negima (obviously xP), Stratos 4, Infinite Ryvius, Haruhi.

There's more I could suggest, but I'm sure that's plenty to be thinking about.

I put my vote in for Lucky Star

I would suggest TTGL, but I have a feeling that may be pushing it...

NejinOniwa

Working!! is pretty good and pretty safe. Also gets a second season about now.

Haruhi.

I came close to suggesting this myself, but it has moments of violence (pretty brief, however) and sexual themes (but they're fairly tame - PG, PG-13 at worse - and played for laughs). If I recall correctly there's very little swearing and it doesn't touch on any controversial subjects (unless you think the concept of a teenage girl being god is controversial, *snick*).

If the audience is going to be all teenagers, I think you could show this without incident.

NejinOniwa

Haruhi!? Blasphemy! It's deep religious propaganda for the Cult of Haruhiists, don't you dare show it to the poor unprotected innocent highschoolers!

Blasphemy?  The divine Suzumiya spreads happiness and adventure to all!

And also encourages mollestation, which is all good.

haruhi = out. seen one episode, too much booby-grabbing for the school's liking. imouto is out too, simply because we're on the rule that if we're not sure of the ground, we're not going to step there.

to answer everyone's question, the youngest people there are 14, but that's not the issue here (most of the anime they own can't be screened in school due to innuendo or hideous amounts of blood).

thanks for the suggestions. if you can think of any more, i'd be happy to hear them. :3

@pentium: ttgl?

Penti-chan

TTGL = Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

TTGL = Gurren Laggan. Which totally wouldn't work. (Blood, comedic-but-over-the-top-violence, Leeron creepin' on dudes and Yoko being, well, Yoko...)

After hearing what you've said, I think Azumanga Daioh would be the safest choice. PPD, K-On! and Working!! would probably work quite well too.

Chocofreak13

kk. thanks. :3

i should mention that FMA and Host Club both got a pass, even with "scenes" and blood.

it's a bit of a grey area, so i'll clarify:

softenni: not allowed, even with censorship
gantz: not allowed.....obviously
NGE: not allowed, due to violence and psuedo-religious themes

any questions?

Additions from the new frontier:

Steins;Gate (Mindscrewing thriller, does have its share of violence but if FMA passes then well yeahEL PSY CONGROO)
Nichijou (Take PPD, add Lucky Star and Azumanga and a fuckton of ADDITIONAL weird. Might violate the school regulations on hazardous substances such as Mindfuckium and Randomium, do check before screening.)
Madoka (JUST WATCH IT ALREADY.)
Dantalian no Shoka (Doctor Who in a library. 10th doctor, ofc, not the bowtie guy, he just...creeps me out.)
STAR DRIVER (Hotbloodedness, PLOTTIDY, Nonlethal Mecha Violence and Not A Single Death In Entire Series, FABULOUS AS FUCK, THIS IS THE BEST ANIMU YOU COULD EVER SCREEN. Except for the fact that once in a while the Maidens have a tendency to stand naked in the water for their purifying rituals, this is totally ideal; so unlesss 0.3 units of Wako's ass every episode makes it no go, you should take this for first pick.)
Sasameki Koto (Wait a second...)

Also, btw: was it Old FMA or FMA:Brotherhood that you're going to screen?
'cuz Brotherhood was really good. And it didn't crashland at the ending. Soooooo. Watch it.
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood

There. Think I'm finished now. All of the above animu are Demon Overlord-approved in regards to quality.
